Goal Setting Process Timeline

October 1, 2019
Objective Setting Process Launch
October 1 – November 29, 2019 (soft deadline)
Employee discusses goals/objectives for the upcoming review period with their Manager / Principal Investigator, records the agreed upon goals and professional development activities in SF Goals. Manager / Principal Investigator reviews goals/objectives and professional development plans submitted by Employee.
Throughout the review period
Employee keeps track of completion of the goals/objectives and professional development activities and updates SF Goals records reflecting status of each of the agreed upon goals/objectives and professional development activities. Employee can add a new goal(s) / objective(s) and/or professional development activity(ies) any time during the review period.

Performance Assessment Process Timeline

May 16 – 29
SRA / RA completes Activity Report (Part A of the Halogen online assessment) and submits it along with a copy of the current CV to Principal Investigator.
May 30 – June 20
Principal Investigator reviews the completed Activity Report(s) in the Halogen system. Reflects on feedback and coaching discussions that occurred with SRAs / RAs throughout the review period and completes the Values & Competencies Summary (Part B of the online assessment).
by June 20
Principal Investigator provides the overall performance rating and recommended merit percentage. PI submits completed online performance assessment(s) for the Departmental review.
June 21 – July 4
Business Officer facilitates the Departmental review by the Department Head utilizing the online assessments completed and submitted by Principal Investigator(s) in the Halogen system. Once reviewed by the Department Head, Business Officer submits the online assessments and sends the completed merit calculation spreadsheet with the performance ratings and recommended merit amounts to their HR Office.
July 5 – 10
HR Offices forward the template letter to Business Officers and confirms all ratings and merit amounts with Business Officer and PI. Approved ratings are communicated to the PIs.
by July 26
Principal Investigator conducts an in-person performance discussion with the SRA/RA and provides the SRA/RA with his/her performance rating. Principal Investigator submits finalized and approved online assessment back to SRA/RA. Principal Investigator and SRA/RA discuss goals and professional development for the next review period.
by July 26
Principal Investigator provides the SRA / RA with a letter confirming the final performance rating, any related salary adjustment(s), the new annual salary and the effective date.
by July 31
SRA/RA completes Employee Summary Comments and Signs Off on the online assessment. Divisional HR Office confirms final ratings and merit amounts confirmed with Business Officers and PIs to Compensation on the Divisional HR Spreadsheet.
